CHINESE CHUNG YEUNG FESTIVAL CELEBRATES ANCESTORS

Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park will be celebrating Chung Yeung 2013 in a very unique way: with Chinese lion dancers to scare away “bad” spirits, a traditional blessing from Buddhist and Taoist monks, the Berkeley Kite Wranglers who will be flying giant creature kites and the Wall of Honor. The ancient Chinese “grave-sweeping” tradition is conducted on the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese lunar calendar to care for ancestors’ graves and to make special paper sacrifices.
