California Youth Symphony concert at renovated San Mateo Performing Arts Center

The award-winning California Youth Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Leo Eylar, kicks off its 62nd season in a highly anticipated return to the newly remodeled San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Experience the remodeled theatre acoustics with the first symphony to play in the new hall performing with nearly 115 musicians on stage.

The concert will feature 16 year old cellist Ila Shon, winner of the 2013 CYS Young Artist Competition, performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto. Two American works will also be featured: Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and Bernstein’s Three Dances from On the Town, along with the beloved Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov.
