Meet the San Mateo City Council Candidates

Mayor David Lim and Vice Mayor Robert Ross are up for re-election, along with three other candidates on the ballot to fill three vacant seats on the San Mateo City Council.

Tuesday's election is packed with measures and candidates on the Peninsula, but what San Mateo residents really need to know about are those vying for three seats on the San Mateo City Council.

Three council members will be elected Tuesday to fill the offices now held by Brandt Grotte, David Lim, and Robert Ross, and to serve 4-year terms commencing Dec. 5, 2013 and until the general municipal election in November 2017 and the election and qualification of the successor.

Five candidates are on the ballot for those seats, and they are:

Joe Goethals
Joshua Scott Hugg
David Lim
Robert Ross
Karen Schmidt
