Seismic Construction on San Mateo Bridge, Expect Delays

Various lanes in both directions will be closed from Wednesday through Saturday. At least one lane will be open at all times, but expect delays.

Caltrans will be performing construction on CA-92 on the San Mateo Bridge from Wednesday through Saturday as part of its Seismic Retrofit Program.

Various lanes in both directions on the bridge will be closed at different times.

At least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times, but motorists are warned to expect delays and are encouraged to find alternate routes.

According to an article in the San Jose Mercury, a rough schedule of lane closures is as follows:

  • On Wednesday, one eastbound lane will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and one westbound lane will be closed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • On Thursday, one eastbound lane will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and two eastbound lanes will be shut down from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day. One westbound lane will be closed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and two westbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
  • On Friday, one eastbound lane will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and two eastbound lanes will be closed from midnight until 6 a.m. Saturday.
  • Also on Friday, one westbound lane will be shut down from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and two westbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day.

The project is expected to continue with another schedule of construction and lane closures over the Labor Day Weekend, and again in October.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.
