Redwood Tree Narrowly Misses San Mateo Homeowners' Bed

Windy weather left hundreds without power on the Peninsula Monday, and roadways littered with fallen trees and debris.

A windy, wet night left Bay Area roadways littered with fallen trees and debris on Monday, and left a few residents in San Mateo grateful their bed wasn't 20 feet over.

According to ABC7.com, San Mateo homeowners on Hillsdale Road said they were asleep in their bed when part of a Redwood tree landed on their home and missed their bed by about 20 feet.

No one was injured, ABC7.com reported, but about six rooms in the house sustained some damage.

The National Weather Service issued a high-wind advisory early Monday morning, and it was expected to remain in effect until 8 p.m.

Gusts reaching 45 mph were expected in parts of the Bay Area, and motorists were advised to drive cautiously.

Hundreds of residents on the Peninsula lost power overnight as a result of the gusty winds.
