Off the Grid San Mateo Lineup: Sept. 19

A run-down of who to expect at tonight's food truck meet-up at San Mateo Caltrain station

Off the Grid is bringing seven food trucks to San Mateo tonight. Come hungry and take your pick from each of the mobile eateries. Here's a look at which trucks are expected to be at San Mateo Caltrain Station this evening.

What: A unique weekly event that brings some of the Bay Area's best gourmet food trucks to First and Baldwin streets, the location of San Mateo Caltrain. Besides giving Caltrain commuters something to look forward to on the way home from work, peninsula locals from both sides of the track come out to dine and dash.

When: From 5p.m. to 9p.m., today Monday September 19

Where: San Mateo Caltrain Station

Who's going to be feeding the masses?

Chairman Bao @chairmantruck serving traditional Chinese steamed and baked buns with a contemporary interpretation. Truck offerings include an often ordered open-faced pork belly and pickled Daikon bun.

Whisk @sfwhisk serving Cal-Fusion cuisine, including specialties like pasta dishes, tapas and Angus beef burgers.

Seoul on Wheels @seoulonwheels serving Korean-style barbecue. Specialties include kim chee fried rice and Korean BBQ Tacos.

Golden Boy Pizza @goldenboypizza Serving squared slices of Golden Boy's addictively delicious pizza - what else? A few favorites from this pizza joint's San Mateo brick and mortar location include Clam and Garlic, or a traditional pepperoni.

Hapa SF @hapasf serving contemporary, organic Filipino cuisine. Specialties include lumpia, fried vegetable rolls and sisig, marinated and barbecued meats.

Pacific Puffs @PacificPuffs Cream puffs from this San Francisco-based bakery have gone mobile. Though they make a satisfying classic puff, a cream-filled pastry topped with chocolate glaze or powdered sugar, the real proof of dessert genius is in the special flavors. The latest puff special is the coconut creme, and past specials have included a peanutbutter cream.

Curry Up Now @CurryUpNow serving contemporary Indian cuisine, including specialties like tikka masala burritos and pani puri, a fried potato dumpling. If today's lunch menu says anything about whats on order for dinner, look forward to Tikka Masala Burritos, Deconstructed Samosas and Sexy Fries.

I see that I meant to type "...that connect us to the past," but I accidentally typedRead More "...and connect us to the past." I think my meaning came through, though. Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.

Dear Ari, Thank you for your service to our community. It's wonderful that you are already making aRead More difference.
