Gas Prices Continue to Drop in San Mateo County
There may be a lot of traffic on the roads this weekend, but there is at least some relief due to lowering gas prices.
Gas prices continue to decline here on the Peninsula, and the AAA says prices are likely to continue to drop even more after Labor Day.
The middle and southern portions of San Mateo County appear to have the least expensive gas according to the Web site GasBuddy.com. Both San Mateo and Redwood City have stations selling regular gas for $3.55 per gallon.
AAA spokesperson Jeffrey Spring attributes the drop to the federal government’s decision to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

“Prices came down a little more quickly this week, perhaps because of last week’s Obama administration announcement that it is releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve,” said Spring.
