San Mateo County's First Cheesecake Factory Coming to Hillsdale Shopping Center

San Mateo residents with a taste for cheesecake will soon have a new spot to satisfy their craving as plans to build a Cheesecake Factory at the Hillsdale Shopping Center are under way.

The popular restaurant, set to open in September, is part of an 80,000-square-foot renovation to the area previously occupied by Mervyn's, spokesperson Shelbi Okumura said.

The shopping center is also taking on a two-story mega store Forever 21, slated to open in November, and global fashion retailer H&M, scheduled to open in October, to anchor the center's south end to further add to its makeover. 

Other changes at the center's south end include the arrival of specialty footwear retailer DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, set for October, and the recently opened Old Navy.

Two new retailers, skin care and hair care naturalist Kiehl's, which opens this month, and Kay Jewelers, already open, are joining the main center in addition to the newly renovated Children's Place.

With the arrival of the Cheesecake Factory comes more than 200 menu items, a full bar and 50-plus different cheesecakes and desserts.

Lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch will be offered, as the restaurant will remain open until 11 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on weekends.

Okumura says the Cheesecake Factory will "compliment the already established dining destinations at Hillsdale," including California Pizza Kitchen, Outback Steakhouse, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, TGI Fridays, The Counter, Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Café, Andersen Bakery & Café and FOOD31. 

Hillsdale Shopping Center offers more than 120 specialty stores and restaurants. Tenants include anchors Nordstrom, Macy’s and Sears, as well as specialty shops such as Coach, Trader Joe’s, bebe, Chico’s, Lucky Brand Jeans, Apple, Swarovski, MAC, Williams-Sonoma, Banana Republic, and more. Hillsdale Shopping Center is located on Sixty 31st Avenue in San Mateo, Calif. Off Hwy. 101 at Hillsdale Blvd.
