A new restaurant will open in the site of the former Crate & Barrell at Hillsdale Shopping Center come next year, restaurant officials announced this week.
Paul Martin's American Grill, slated to open by the end of 2013, is the fifth announced location for the Southern California-based chain.
Conceived by Brian Bennett and legendary restaurateur Paul Fleming as the "restaurant they always wanted in their neighborhood," Paul Martin’s serves American Classics with a fresh twist using locally-sourced and peak-of-the-season ingredients, according to restaurant officials.
The menu will rotate seasonally with local and organic produce, seafood from sustainable fisheries, free-range and natural meats and poultry, artisan cheeses, and premium biodynamic wines mainly from California.
“When selecting Paul Martin locations, we look for communities that appreciate things like good food made with seasonal ingredients while supporting family farms and local purveyors,” said Anthony Smith, President of Paul Martin’s American Grill.

The announcement of Paul Martin’s® American Grill in San Mateo comes on the heels of opening Paul Martin’s fourth location in Westlake Village, California earlier this month.
