Lettuce Recalled for Listeria Threat

The packaged lettuce was grown here in California. A random test found Listeria monocytogenes.

Taylor Farms of Salinas has recalled 110 cases of Taylor Farms Hearts of Romaine 10 oz. bags with an expiration date of 12-13-12.

A random test conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found Listeria monocytogenes.
 
The symptoms of Listeria  infection include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Listeria can be deadly, especially in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

No illnesses have been reported from the Taylor Farms lettuce.
