Landmark San Mateo Hardware Store Changes Name

Wisnom's Ace Hardware is rebranding itself to honor family history by using the Hassett name.

San Mateo's beloved hardware store, Wisnom's Ace Hardware, is changing its name.

The third-generation family-owned store, with history dating back to 1905, is rebranding itself as Hassett Ace Hardware.

Palo Alto's Ace Hardware, Willow Glen Ace, and Ocean Shore Hardware in Half Moon Bay, all part of the Hassett Ace Hardware family of stores, will also make the name change.

“We think it’s time to honor our family hardware history by using the Hassett name as a beacon to our customers of the great service offered at all Hassett Ace Hardware stores,” said co-owners Eric and Richard Hassett.

“Our stores are the same great places, just with a new name. We remain dedicated to our mission of providing the best service and product selection for the communities we serve, by empowering our family of associates to always make it right for every customer, every time.”

In celebration of the name change, Hassett Ace Hardware is hosting their first annual Neighborhood Celebration Weekend April 12-14 at their four area locations in Half Moon Bay, Palo Alto, San Mateo and Willow Glen.

The event will feature special discounts and offers, live product demonstrations, free face painting and balloon twisting for kids, food trucks and non-profit community partner booths at each location.

“Our inaugural Neighborhood Celebration Weekend is a way to thank our valued customers for their continued support,” said the Hassetts. “We’re also using it as an opportunity to bring the community together by inviting our non-profit community partners to attend and bring awareness to their causes during the event.”

Local organizations will be present at all locations and are as varied as Boy Scouts of America, Museum of American Heritage, Zero Waste, Local crafters and artists, Coastside Hope, Coastside Seniors, Local Schools, Repair Café, YMCA of Silicon Valley, Willow Glen Business Association, Local partner businesses, Rebuilding Together – Peninsula, Pop Warner and Local Little League Teams.

April 12 is a day-long scratcher offer with 10 chances to win 100 percent off; April 13 is 20 percent off your entire purchase; and April 14 is a We-pay-your-tax day.
