Find Shoes, Clothes at New Downtown San Mateo Shop

Premier Boutique opened their doors on Third Street earlier this year.

If you’re in the mood for some brand new shoes at a brand new store, look no further than down Third Street in San Mateo.

Premier Boutique, located at 132 East 3rd Ave., celebrated their Grand Opening in February, relocating from Palo Alto, where the store resided for three years.

Owner Aaron Bine said he wants the store to showcase the finest casual footwear and to introduce casual fashion, including t-shirts, footwear, bags and watches.

“The accessories are the garnish on the plate,” he said.

Bine said the store’s basketball artwork on the wall was inspired by the basketball shoes carried in the store. He said the artwork helps to tell that story.

“The store is wide and open,” he said. “It’s unique too. Nowhere else in downtown can you find the same footwear. You won’t find these shoes at Atlas, or pretty much along the whole Peninsula.”

Bine, a former vinyl records salesman and Bay Area native, said he first opened the store comes from his personal interest in footwear.

He said that broad because of their variety of products and brands, including TOMS, adding that 30 percent of the clientele is non-youth. Bine said he’s seen new faces, along with previous customers, noting that there’s more interest in the business in San Mateo and sales have doubled.

Aside from word of mouth, the store has utilized social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to spread the news about the opening. They feature lifestyle photos of new products, trade shows, employees and customers wearing shoes bought there.

Bine hopes to host special events, including ones that showcase brand product launches.

The business’ hours are Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store previously housed Nouvelle Vogue, a bridal shop.
