Optimize Your Health, Fitness & Vitality with Brien Shamp: Are You a Priority?

Are You a Priority? Generally, the answer to this question is… NO.

Generally, the answer to this question is… NO.

This is a very common answer for the parents and business owners out there, and many of my tech friends in Silicon Valley who are hoping to make a lot of money in a short time with a .com start-up.

If you are not a priority at this time given your other values, your lifestyle will eventually lead to PAIN (it happens quick when you hit 40).  Pain is the result of STRESS to your physiology.

Stress leads to belly fat, weight gain, a sluggish thyroid, autoimmune disorders, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, muscle and joint pain, high blood pressure and more.

These symptoms often lead to medications to manage the pain, but the real culprit is…

Lack of Attention to Self

As I reflect back to certain times in my life, I have also put myself behind other values and paid the price with stress.

When I make myself a priority, I experience the following more often:

  1. Peace
  2. Happiness
  3. Love
  4. Energy
  5. Health
  6. Motivation
  7. Fitness
  8. Efficiency
  9. Improved connection with clients, friends and God

Tony Robbins says energy flows where energy goes.

If most of your energy is going towards your business, you will generally develop a good business, but other areas will suffer (family, health, etc.)   If most of your energy is going towards your education, you may be highly educated, but lack in other areas also.  If your health & wellness is a priority you will do whatever it takes to achieve your health & wellness goals.  You will eventually learn that health & wellness isn’t all about the workouts, but a daily commitment to:

  1. Meditation/Prayer
  2. Hydration
  3. High quality and frequent, low sugar food intake
  4. Sleep
  5. Connection with friends and family
  6. Daily movement

Making you a priority is the #1 structure for success in my programs!  This is a very hard structure to implement given we are better at taking care of others than ourselves and we are distracted easily.  Make yourself a priority and do something every day that moves you towards your goals.

September is a great time to put you first. Vacations are over and kids are in school. There is no better time than now.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

I see that I meant to type "...that connect us to the past," but I accidentally typedRead More "...and connect us to the past." I think my meaning came through, though. Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.

Dear Ari, Thank you for your service to our community. It's wonderful that you are already making aRead More difference.
