Know eBooks? Digital Bookmobile to Give Answers

The download experience promotes free eBook and eAudiobook download services available at the San Mateo County Library.

The Digital Bookmobile will make a mostly analog appearance in Foster City in late April.

The 18-wheel tractor-trailer Bookmobile gives instruction to patrons on how to use the free eBook and eAudiobook download services available through the San Mateo County Library.

You'll be able to catch the rolling tour at the on April 25 from 1 to 7p.m.

At the event, readers will be taught how to download eBooks and eAudiobooks from the Library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos.

A gadget gallery on hand - featuring Kindle, iPod touch, Android tablet, NOOK, Sony Reader, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and more - will help users discover portable devices that are compatible with the Library’s download service.
“The Library is excited to be able to offer the Digital Bookmobile to our community,” said Anne Marie Despain, Director of Library Services.

“Since the Library first introduced eBooks, we have witnessed the popularity of this format and the incredible demand for downloadable services. We are constantly adding to the collection.”

Library customers can take advantage of the download service at any time of day when they visit the county library’s website.

There, they can browse a growing collection of bestselling, new release, and classic titles and check out a digital title with a valid library card.

Once downloaded, users can enjoy digital titles on a computer or transfer the content to supported mobile devices.

At the end of the lending period, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the digital collection. One of the true advantages of digital downloads: There are never late fees or damaged items.

I had just bought my new Android Samsung Galaxy Tab home from the store, and played around with it for a few hours before I realised something. I was bored. It definitely had some cool features and everything, but all the multimedia I wanted to put on it from the Android app store and the online bookstores would cost me loads, and I simply couldn't afford to spend $20 per book. I realised that without this multimedia, I simply couldn't enjoy my Samsung Galaxy Tab to the fullest extent. Then, after some Google searching, I discovered The Droid Library. It's this new site which provides thousands of eBooks, comic books, newspapers, and magazines for any Android device. I must say, I was sceptical at first, but after reading some reviews, I went ahead and signed up for the site. Let me just say, this site delivers MORE than it promises. It's not really an app or software, but a membership site which provides access to a whole huge database of downloads for Android. With a couple of clicks, I had the entire Twilight series on my Galaxy Tab, without it costing me anything for each download! All you have to do is search what you want, select, and download! It is so easy, and so simple. http://androidebookreader.weebly.com
