Why Go: This is a loud and lively spot that allows for the whole family to have fun. They even have a kids menu.

Why Go: Enjoy a day out in the park during this nice weather.

Why Go: The Gryphons Soccer Club (GSC) Pre-Academy includes year-round Beginning Soccer programs for children between the ages of 3 and 8. These programs are taught by professional coaches based on the world renowned AC Fiorentina soccer development program for children. Each program is offered in five 7- to 8-week session, and caters to a specific age group, starting with an introductory game-play program, and continuing to a more skill-development oriented program.

Why Go: Are you an animal fanatic? Do you love learning about our furry or feathered friends? Come learn about CuriOdyssey’s non-releasable animals. Shows themes will vary so you can learn something new every time you visit.

Why Go: San Mateo’s signature springtime community event and largest egg hunt will be attended by hundreds of excited children and families eagerly searching for eggs in beautiful Central Park.

Why Go: A wine bar is a great place to go with friends. Finding a new favorite or sticking to your favorite isn't a problem here due to their extensive wine list.

Where/When: 115 De Anza Blvd.

Why Go: Enjoy Japanese food this weekend at this fun and creative spot.

Where/When: 3012 Bridgepointe Pkwy. starting at 10:00 a.m. on April 23.

Why Go: Bay Area residents can meet the "little white fluffy dogs" that are hard to find in local shelters. Poodles, bichons, maltese, shih tzus and mixes are available every Saturday. The dogs are young, active, and submissive.

Where/When: Broadway Grill, 1400 Broadway, 11 a.m. on April 24.

Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.
