How was your weekend? Were you looking for something to do, but plum out of ideas?
Or, maybe now that school's out for the summer, the kids are getting restless and driving you crazy?
Would a free weekend trip to the Exploratorium have been nice? How about a trip to the Oakland Zoo?
Well, a great new program could help your decision-making.
The - as part of the San Mateo County Library system - has just announced a new program called Discover & Go, a service providing library cardholders with free passes to local museums and cultural institutions.
Guests coming to town? Looking to show them some of this area's great cultural places to go? Discover & Go may be a big help.
The first of its kind, the Discover & Go program provides access to passes that can be printed online rather than traditional physical passes that must be picked up and returned to the Library.
Each Discover & Go pass expires immediately after the reservation date – there are no returns required and no possibility of overdue fines.
As a San Mateo Public Library cardholder, you can make reservations online at http://discover.smcl.org by date or by venue and print out a museum pass.
If you don't have Internet access, you can reserve a pass by telephone or in person.
You can reserve up to two passes at a time from a healthy list of destinations including:
- Aquarium of the Bay
- Asian Art Museum
- Bay Area Discovery Museum
- Cartoon Museum
- Exploratorium
- Lawrence Hall of Science
- Marine Mammal Center
- Museum of Craft and Folk Art
- Oakland Museum of California
- Oakland Zoo
- San Jose Art Museum
- Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
