And the Cutest Dog in San Mateo is....

Congrats to the winner of San Mateo Patch's 'Cutest Dog in San Mateo' contest!

This was such a fun contest to run. We here at San Mateo Patch loved seeing all the adorable dogs in the photos our readers uploaded, and it was fun keeping up with everyone's votes in the comments section. We're so glad so many votes came in, because if it had been up to us to choose the cutest dog, there's no way we could have chosen!

Thanks so much to everyone for participating!

Now, for the winner.

Drum roll, please.....

Congratulations to Daisy May the dachsund for being our winner of the

And congratulations to Daisy May's "mommy," Amanda Ford, who entered her!

The "runner-up" dogs who also received many votes were Coco the Pomeranian, and Mochi.

Amanda and her adorable pooch, Daisy May, get to choose a $25 gift card to either , a doggie day spa and gift shop on El Camino, or , an independent pet store on 41st Avenue. We thank the owners of these stores for their support and, since Patch always love to support local small businesses, we hope our readers will patronize these great stores in the future.

Amanda, please e-mail San Mateo Patch Associate Editor Jennifer van der Kleut at jennifer.vanderkleut@patch.com with your phone number, e-mail address and mailing address, as well as which store you would like your gift card for, so we can get you and Daisy May your prize right away!

Watch for more fun contests on San Mateo Patch in the near future, and thanks so much for reading our site.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

I see that I meant to type "...that connect us to the past," but I accidentally typedRead More "...and connect us to the past." I think my meaning came through, though. Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.

Dear Ari, Thank you for your service to our community. It's wonderful that you are already making aRead More difference.
