Police Arrest Two Suspects for Stealing Lunch Box, Backpack
The suspects allegedly accosted the victim and stole his lunch box, backpack and cell phone early Wednesday morning in San Mateo.
San Mateo police arrested two suspects hours after they allegedly attacked and stole a lunch box and backpack from a 24-year-old man on Wednesday.
The victim, a San Mateo resident, was walking to work in the area of Tilton Avenue and Fremont Street when at about 5:45 a.m. he was accosted by the suspects, 20 and 17, San Mateo Police Sgt. Dave Norris said.
The suspects threatened the victim and took property from him, including a backpack, lunch box, and cell phone, according to Norris.
San Mateo officers investigated the case throughout the morning and by about 2 p.m., officers had tracked the suspects to the 1600 block of Mission Drive in Colma, Norris said.
The officers coordinated with Colma police, who helped locate and detain the suspects. San Mateo police identified and arrested the suspects, in addition to a third person with them who was taken into custody for drug violations.
The older suspect, 20-year-old Santino Deandre Rodriguez of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy. He was booked into San Mateo County jail.
The other suspect, a 17-year-old also from Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy, and was booked into San Mateo County Juvenile Hall.
