Newt Gingrich to Speak at Republican Convention in Burlingame

The presidential hopeful will visit the Peninsula later this month.

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will be visiting the Bay Area later this month to headline the California Republican Party's spring convention, party officials announced Tuesday.

Gingrich, who is vying to be the Republican candidate to take on President Obama in the November election, will be in Burlingame to give the keynote speech at a Feb. 25 lunch event at the convention, which is being held at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport hotel in Burlingame.

Tom Del Beccaro, the state's Republican Party chairman, said Gingrich is "one of the most dynamic figures in GOP politics" and "brings energy and vision to the convention during a critical election year."

Del Beccaro said Gingrich may be participating in fundraising events elsewhere in the Bay Area during his visit to the region, but those events have yet to be confirmed.

He said his organization is also in talks to have other Republican presidential candidates participate in the convention, which runs from Feb. 24-26.

The current guest list for the convention includes House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, the third-highest ranking Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and Darrell Issa, a congressman from Southern California.

More information about the convention can be found at www.cagop.org.

Mr.Beccaro is right about Mr. Newt Gingrich. Most American people do not see him
that way.President Obama has no problem about his marriage but he could not
bring prosperity to the nation.Newt has marital issue but he led the GOP to be the
majority in 4 decades and also helped balance the budgets for many years.
Now it is time for the well educated people to make the right decision.Mr. Newt
Gingrich can TKO President Obama easily if he is a nominee. The GOP got behind
Mr. Mitt Romney because the establishment wants him to be defeaed so they can
have their man to run against Vice President Joe Biden.I hope the American people
can see my point. The other factor that the people in the US Congress not supporting
Mr. Newt Gingrich because they don want him their party boss.

This has been a warm winter. The USA did not need a lot of oil. American oil companies have shipped our oil overseas which has artifically raised our prices. Even if we drill, how can our prices in the USA stablize or lower if our companies don't have any allegiance to the American people and continue to ship our oil products abroad? Would a higher export tax be in order? In Alaska, somehow they have a profit sharing system to keep the general public from paying exorbitant prices. Could a plan like that work nationwide?
