The San Mateo County coroner's office has identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on southbound U.S. Highway 101 Thursday evening.
Charles Gomez, 45, of San Francisco, was killed in the crash that was reported around 5 p.m. on Highway 101 near East Poplar Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The response to the accident blocked southbound lanes for hours.
The lanes reopened around 7:30 p.m., according to the CHP.
One resident was driving south on Highway 101 and reportedly saw a motorcyclist pass at about 50 to 60 mph. The driver said the crash then happened in front of the car about 15 seconds later.

Its a shame a self proclaimed biker killed himself. At least it was him and not someone innocent. He passed me doing about 70 in the emergency lane while the traffic was stopped. I knew he was as good as dead. Oh well, his suicide attempt worked. Still waiting to see the toxicology reports.
