CSM Softball Hosts Modesto in Home Opener Thursday

The Lady Bulldogs opened the season with a doubleheader sweep over the weekend.

 

The College of San Mateo softball team swept a doubleheader from host Merced College on Saturday, winning both games by identical 10-0 scores.

Notre Dame High grad Amelia Shales threw a one-hitter over five innings in the opener. She struck out two and did not walk a batter.

Capuchino grad Michele Pilster allowed five hits over six innings in the nightcap. She struck out eight and walked two.

Third baseman Selina Rodriguez had two hits, drove in two runs and stole two bases in the first game and then had two hits and scored twice in the second game.

Hillsdale grad Kaylin Stewart and Katie Tam each drove in two runs and Shales added twohits in the opener.

Capuchino grad Jamie Navarro and Mikayla Conlin each drove in three runs in the second game while Navarro and Terra Nova grad Talisa Flame each added two hits.

The Lady Bulldogs host Modesto at 2 p.m. Thursday in its home opener.
